In Nei Dan, the Chi is built in the abdomen ( Dan Tien or Oihai, and can circulate around the body by force of the Will. Nei Dan circulation uses the SMALL CIRCULATION which is comprised of The GOVERNING and the CONCEPTION (Du Mei and Ren Mei) which are centered on the front and back of the torso. SHOU CHOU TIEN. PRINCIPLES OF NEI DAN. NEI DAN is the practice of generating Chi in the DAN TIEN or QIHAI and then it is guided by the mind to complete the entire body energy CIRCULATION. It is located about 1.5 inches below the navel. It is approximately 1/3 of the way up the body. Dan Tien means FIELD OF ELIXIR. QIHAI means SEA OF CHI. It is considered to be the SOURCE of ORIGINAL CHI in the body since the EMBRYO uses it to gather its supply of OXYGEN and nourishment. The human baby will continue to BREATHE THROUGH THE BELLY...the Dan Tien ...until a gradual process causes the breathing emphasis to rise in the body towards the chest area by late childhood...which represents a loss of control of The Chi in the abdominal muscles. In NEI DAN, the practitioner returns to the EMBRYONIC METHOD OF BREATHEING. The FURNACE or FOR LU are more monikers for the DAN TIEN. TAOISM'S ALCHEMICAL TRADITION of FIRE STARTING. The important Taoist book TAI SHI CHING...HARMONIZED EMBRYO BREATHING... the importance of The Dan Tien ... and regulated breathing... and to NURTURE THE DAN TIEN AS IF IT IS AN EMBRYO.
PRINCIPLES FROM THE TAI SHIH CHING : The embryo generates from the HIDDEN / UNDEVELOPED CHI ... Chi comes from the modulated breathing of the embryo. When Chi enters the body, life engages. When Spirit leaves the body... the embryo disperses death. Spirit moves and so Chi Moves... by knowing Spirit and Chi... a long life is made possible. Protect and nourish the "imaginary embryo" to build up Spirit and Chi. Chi stops if Spirit stops...so to have a long life...SPIRIT ANHD CHI must mutually interact. When the HeartMind is not dispersed, not a thought comes or goes. When thoughts are absent, Nature presents... and the TRUE WAY to approach this as a gioal is through dedicated hard work...
The experiences from thousands of years ... of Chinese meditation ... has demonstrated and evidenced that the abdominal muscles could be trained to bolster the Chi. The stronger flow of Chi fortification process has been deemed "BACK TO CHILDHOOD [ "Fan Ton." ]. The nerves and chi channels will begin to accumulate the energies...which is called, "STARTING THE FIRE" [ "Chi For" ]. Concentration of the mind on the Chi generation and circulation... ... with coordinated muscle efficiencies from breathe control... with the emphasis of THE DAN TIEN. "Yi Sou Dan Tien" ..."The Mind always stays with the Dan Tien ..."
